Environmental Awareness Month 2026 - Tano yan Lina’la Ina’famaolek | Falúw Me Malaw Llól Eew Pilúúgh | Land and Life in Harmony
Overview
Environmental Awareness Month (EAM) is an annual community outreach and education initiative led by the Division of Environmental Quality. Observed every April, EAM highlights the importance of protecting the islands' natural resources and encourages residents, schools, businesses, and community organizations to take an active role in environmental stewardship.
Originally established as Environmental Awareness Week in the early 90's, the program later expanded into a month-long celebration to allow for greater community participation and educational outreach across the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota. Today, EAM features a variety of activities—including environmental expos, island-wide cleanups, educational presentations, environmental laboratory tours, tree-planting events, and community art contests—all designed to promote sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.
Through these events and partnerships with local agencies, schools, and community organizations, EAM serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about environmental threats and inspire collective action to protect the land, air, and water resources that sustain the CNMI for present and future generations.
To learn more about upcoming events and activities, please see the 2026 EAM Calendar of Events and individual event flyers below.
